Mercury 400R engines are available in classic black (Phantom Black) or cold white (Cold Fusion). Six different primary colors (Blue, Green, Orange, Purple, Red and Yellow) are available for the graphics packages on the white 400R models and are designed to reflect your personal style or aesthetically match the boat's color palette. Either way, heads will turn to see you, even if you're speeding by.

The mind behind the power
The exuberant power of the Verado 400R comes down to a multitude of technologies from the Verado design platform. The comprehensive SmartCraft system is the brains behind a host of advanced technologies, such as digitally controlled throttle and shift (DTS) and joystick navigation. The SmartCraft system interconnects the engine, controls, steering and information displays, providing the operator with the necessary diagnostic and performance information related to engine operation

Supercharger
The water-cooled supercharger, through the engine's cooling circuit, reduces the temperature of the intake air and the developing load on the supercharger, increasing its durability and more importantly, the POWER output.

Fresh air intake
Air is brought in fresh through the specially designed turbocharger intake, and cooler air means more power and better performance. For even more power, the air is recooled in an intercooler (water-cooled intercooler) as soon as it exits the supercharger and just before entering the cylinder head, to maximize performance.
