Initially we remove the oil and then we make a visual inspection of their color as well as a pressure test with special tools. If their color turns white, then seawater has inserted and it requires further examination. We fill in new oil at the end of the service, after having installed the drive first. The oil filters replacement is necessary in each annual service.

Thermostat inspection is a standard procedure at each annual service. If salts have accumulated inside the thermostat, it stops its operation and as a result, the engine cannot operate at either higher or lower degrees. Therefore, this can cause serious damages to the engine. The pistons are implemented with some limits. When the cylinder is not heated to the required temperature, it does not expand as much as it should and this can lead to an engine’s serious damage. In this case, the thermostat is in poor condition and needs replacement after having cleaning the thermostat area.

At the outboard engine’s drive there is a hole from which easily can pass water and accordingly the speed, one sensor indicates to us the speed of the vessel in knots or miles. The carburetor alternates gasoline from liquid into gas. This device is designed to mix the air and hydrocarbon vapors. This mixture then goes in the engine with the direct purpose of burning and generating power, where it thus helps the engine to perform various functions such as the cold start in winter The ultrasonic cleaning is a process that utilizes ultrasonic (typically 20-40 kHz) for agitation of a liquid.

There are not many workshops in Attica that have a specialized equipment for injectors cleaning. The injectors are removed from the engine and placed in the specialized machine for titration and spray control. If we notice an engine’s operational malfunction or a technical issue, the injectors are placed to the specialized machine and with the appropriate cleaning solution for an ultrasound bath.

Gasoline passes first from the water separator filter, after the low-pressure filter and then the high-pressure fuel filter. The replacement of both filters due to the poor quality of fuels is particularly useful for the proper operation of the engine.

The propeller has a rubber hub that protects the shaft and gears from any small impact of the propeller on sand or other objects. The rubber hub absorbs the damage and it can be easily replaced.
