CHARACTERISTICS

Proven Technology
V6 outboards reach their peak performance using our advanced technology. They have double cylinder heads (DOHC), with four valves per cylinder, and multi-point sequential electronic fuel injection. The 55° V-block design and offset drive shafts make them extremely compact. The DF300AP, DF250AP and DF250 reach their maximum performance with the contribution of variable valve timing (VVT), maximizing low to mid-range torque. The DF250 and DF225 use a multi-stage fuel intake system, allowing for maximum air intake, for ultimate high-rpm performance.

New Selective Rotation Technology from Suzuki
In addition to the ride-by-wire system (Suzuki Precision Control) and Exhaust Control System (Lean Burn Control), the DF300AP and DF250AP feature Suzuki's Selective Rotation.

In its classic (ordinary) form, the outboard motor operates in normal, clockwise rotation using the forward gear. Now, by changing the shift mode and adding a counter-rotating propeller, the same outboard can be operated in reverse rotation (counter-clockwise).

In reverse mode, power is transmitted through the reverse gear, which has been changed to give the same characteristics as the forward gears. This is a world first in outboard motor technology.

When only Perfect is Good Enough
Our flagship (flagship) V6 offers the perfect power for both recreational and commercial boats. Suzuki was the sole outboard supplier for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Sailing Regatta, which used the DF300AP and DF200 alongside the DF140, DF90A and DF40A.

Suzuki Receives Seventh NMMA Innovation Award
When it comes to cutting-edge technology, Suzuki consistently leads the way, delivering technological breakthroughs that place Suzuki outboards at the forefront of outboard motor design. Recognizing the DF300AP as the most innovative outboard introduced in the past year, the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) awarded the DF300AP with the prestigious 2012 NMMA - Innovation Award. This marks Suzuki's unprecedented seventh win, and following the previous year's award for the new DF50A/40A, achieves a second, unprecedented, consecutive victory.

The world's first rotary-selective outboard motors
The award-winning design incorporates both normal and reverse rotation into a single unit.

New Leg Design
Compared to the original DF300 model, the biggest differences you'll find in these outboards are in the leg, which has been redesigned with the Suzuki Selective Rotation system - the world's first integration of normal and counter-rotation models into a single unit. The system consists of a new foot drive assembly, which allows the outboard to operate in either normal or reverse rotation, as well as a switch connected to a circuit in the engine compartment that engages the reverse mode. rotation.
Like the DF300, the DF300AP / 250AP outboard uses a high final drive ratio of 2.08:1, allowing it to turn a 406 mm (16 inch) diameter propeller into a different range of motion for optimal performance on a wide variety of boats. Tool design changes provide greater durability and the addition of a bi-directional water inlet alters the water flow in the cooling system for increased cooling performance.

Selective Rotation
In applications of more than one outboard motor on larger vessels, a counter-rotation is usually combined with a normal-rotation model to keep the vessel heading steady. The DF300AP / 250AP is built with a special rotating gear on the underside, which causes the propeller to rotate in the opposite direction. Suzuki's Selective Rotation eliminates the need to purchase an outboard dedicated reverser by using a special switch which, when connected to a circuit inside the engine, performs a normal outward rotation in a counter-rotating, counter-rotating propeller model . This capability is provided through a special, one-piece design of gears, shaft and bearings in the leg, designed to operate reliably and efficiently in normal or reverse rotations.

Double water inlet
The engine's cooling system relies on water introduced from the leg. By using this double water inlet, the water flow to the foot is increased, which provides greater cooling efficiency. Placing the front inlet at the nose of the gearbox offers more water delivery, especially at high speeds. The second inlet is also mounted on the leg, allowing the DF300AP / 250AP motor to operate even in low water.

Superior durability
With the addition of the selective Suzuki twist, the leg tools were redesigned using a different alloy and slightly larger diameters providing greater strength. The gears have gone through a special heat treatment that makes them extremely durable.

New Leg Design
The DF300AP / 250AP feature a redesigned low-skid foot that was developed to accommodate the new components used in Suzuki's selective rotation system.

The case itself is actually larger than the previous model for greater tool strength, yet is designed with a smoother, more hydrodynamic shape that allows it to move through the water with less resistance and greater efficiency. Areas of highest resistance are shown in red in the images below. The comparison shows that the new design allows the lower unit to move through the water with less resistance.

Large air intake with water separator
The DF300AP / 250AP are designed with a large air intake port to maximize airflow to the engine in order to achieve maximum power. The increased airflow produces short- to mid-range torque and provides a wide powerband necessary in an outboard motor. Suzuki also designed the system with a water separator, which helps keep water out of the electronic throttle circuit, and a heat shield to keep the intake air from being heated by the engine.

Lean Burn Control System
The innovative Suzuki Lean Burn Control System was first introduced on the DF90A / 80A / 70A to great success with users and the media. It predicts fuel needs according to operating conditions, allowing the engine to run on a more efficient fuel mixture, using an air-fuel ratio. It delivers its benefits across a wide range of operations, providing significant improvements in fuel economy from low speed operation to the cruising range. The combination of this system with the Suzuki Precision Control electronic throttle and shift system allows the operator to precisely control engine speed for improved fuel economy over a wider operating range. This combination also provides smooth power transitions throughout the RPM range. Internal testing shows that while cruising, the DF300AP is 14% more fuel efficient than the original non-Lean Burn DF300 without sacrificing any of the power of the original DF300.

The data used in the graphs were obtained by internal testing under uniform conditions. Results will vary depending on operating conditions (boat design, size, weight, weather, etc.)
Cleaner and more efficient operation
Suzuki's advanced four-stroke technology provides cleaner and more efficient operation, in accordance with the Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) - Directive 2003 / 44EC of the European Parliament and of the Council and received a three-star rating from the California Air Resources Board (CARB).

Suzuki Precision Control (Electronic Throttle and Shift System)
Suzuki Precision Control is a technologically advanced electronic control system that replaces the mechanical type control cables found in conventional control systems with electronic wiring that eliminates the source of friction and resistance. While you enjoy smooth throttle and shift operation with minimal friction, the system's computer processes and transmits real-time commands to the engine actuators providing precise throttle control with smoother, more decisive shifting. This is most evident in the low-rpm range, where operation is noticeably smooth and precise. When combined with the Suzuki Exhaust Control System, it allows control of fuel and air flow to increase the limit of the controlled rev range, improving fuel economy in a wide range of operations. Suzuki Precision Control also has built-in systems that protect the engine and combat damage due to poor handling, and the design and simple wiring make installation easy, reducing the time required for fitting and adjusting. The system offers precision control for single, double or triple installation as well as dual station operation.

Suzuki's advanced technology delivers maximum VVT (Variable Valve Timing) performance
Suzuki engineers designed the 4.0-liter V6 engine with an aggressive cam profile that delivers maximum performance and high-rpm performance. By pairing the cam profile with Suzuki's advanced Variable Valve Timing (VVT), the DF300AP / 250AP provide the extra torque that outboards require for low- to mid-range acceleration. VVT accomplishes this by adjusting the timing of the intake valves, allowing them to open before the exhaust valves fully close, creating a momentary overlap of timing where both sets of valves are open. Using VVT, this overlap can be increased or decreased by varying the intake timing with the camshaft resulting in optimal timing for low and mid-range operation.

Butterfly body of spherical rotation
A circular 81mm ball tube body smooths out the turbulent airflow in the engine that occurs as the throttle begins to open. Providing smoother airflow during acceleration results in increased throttle control and stable engine operation at low rpm.

O2 Feedback Control System
Both the DF300AP and DF250AP are equipped with an O2 feedback control system, which makes emissions clean and stable. The system controls the air-to-fuel ratio in each operating range of the engine delivering the optimum amount of fuel to the engine regardless of rpm.

Fuel cooler
The denser the fuel, the better the performance it offers. The integration of a fuel cooler into the fuel delivery system of the DF300AP / 250AP cools the fuel before it enters the engine. Providing the optimum fuel supply to the engine results in better combustion and greater performance.

Long Air Intake
Another performance enhancing feature of the DF300AP / 250AP is a long air intake. Using long intake manifolds tuned to provide smooth airflow to the engine, the system provides the DF300AP / 250AP with improved power.

Water Detection System
Water in the fuel can be the source of poor combustion, lower power and corrosion. To protect the engine from fuel moisture, the DF300AP / 250AP are the first Suzuki outboards to use a fuel filter that detects water and alerts the operator with visual and audible warnings when there is water in the fuel.
